If you’re in the market for a Porsche and are looking for the quickest accelerating model possible, should you buy the Taycan Turbo S or the 911 GT2 RS?

These two cars offer mind-blowing levels of performance and Formula E driver Daniel Abt recently lined them up alongside each other for a series of drag races.

In a straight line, the Taycan Turbo S has the obvious advantage as its two electric motors combine to deliver 750 hp on overboost and send power through all-four wheels. The instantly available 774 lb-ft (1,049 Nm) of torque aids in its breathtaking ability to get off the line.

By comparison, the 911 GT2 RS features a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six that delivers 690 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. While it is much faster around a racetrack than the Taycan, it isn’t as quick off the line as, along with being down on power, it is rear-wheel drive only.

With this in mind, the Taycan Turbo S gets the jump off the line the best in the first race and looks like it will easily win. However, as the two cross the 124 mph (200 km/h) mark, the GT2 RS begins to close in and narrowly takes the win. Whereas the Taycan hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.67 seconds, the GT2 RS needed 3.26 seconds. However, the 911 was much quicker from 62 mph – 124 mph, setting a time of 5.36 seconds compared to the 6.36 seconds of the Taycan.
