The 2022 Jeep Compass has just been unveiled in U.S.-spec at the Chicago Auto Show, a few months after it was updated in other markets including Europe and Australia.

A handful of changes distinguish the exterior of the 2022 Compass from the 2021 model. For example, the front and rear fascias have been revised. This is particularly evident with the front, where the grille has been re-shaped and smaller LED headlights have been fitted, while at the rear there are tweaked taillights.

More significant alterations have been made to the interior which now sports an all-new dashboard that includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen as standard, although a larger 10.1-inch screen is available. The new Compass also features the Uconnect 5 infotainment system and high-end models can be optioned with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Jeep has fitted the 2022 Compass with a revised multi-function steering wheel and certain models get both front and rear heated and ventilated seats. The automaker has also made significant updates on the safety front, outfitting the new Compass with lane-keep assist, pedestrian/cyclist detection, collision warning with automatic braking, active lane management, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alert as standard. A Highway Assist semi-autonomous driver assistance system is also available.

U.S. buyers can purchase the 2022 Compass in Sport, Latitude, Limited, Trailhawk, and Latitude LUX trim levels.

Power still comes from a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder pumping out 177 hp and 172 lb-ft (233 Nm) of torque. Front-wheel drive models come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission while all-wheel drive models get a nine-speed automatic.

Jeep has yet to confirm pricing details for all variants, but says the entry-level Sport with front-wheel drive starts at $26,490.
