Drivers at The Boring Company’s Loop system under the Las Vegas Convention Center have been instructed to describe Elon Musk as “a great leader” while speaking with passengers.

The Loop system opened in June and Tech Crunch recently obtained documents that include a ‘Ride Script’ which drivers must follow when speaking with passengers.

The document opens out by stating that it is the goal of drivers to “provide a safe ride for the passengers, not an entertaining ride.” Drivers are encouraged to keep conversation to a minimum and the script goes on to provided recommended responses to questions the passengers may have.

For example, if a passenger asks how many crashes have occurred in the Loop, drivers are instructed to respond with “It’s a very safe system, and I’m not sure. You’d have to reach out to the company.” Tech Crunch notes that drivers will provide similarly vague responses when asked about how much the tunnel cost and how many employees The Boring Company has.

A section of the ‘Ride Script’ also relates to questions about Elon Musk himself.

“This category of questions is extremely common and extremely sensitive,” the script states. “Public fascination with our founder is inevitable and may dominate the conversation. Be as brief as possible, and do your best to shut down such conversation. If passengers continue to force the topic, politely say, ‘I’m sorry, but I really can’t comment’ and change the subject.”

If passengers ask what Musk is like, drivers are told to say “He’s awesome! Inspiring / motivating / etc.” If asked what it is like working for Musk, drivers are expected to respond “Yup, he’s a great leader! He motivates us to do great work.”

When quizzed about how involved Musk is in the business, drivers should reply “He’s the company founder, and has been very involved and supportive.” This is despite Musk previously stating that he only spends a couple of hours working at The Boring Company each week.
