The Genesis GV80 is expected to be offered as a six-seater when it is updated for the 2022 model year.

The Korean Car Blog claims that in the GV80’s home market, a six-seater will be launched in the third quarter with a 2+2+2 seating layout. A prototype of such a model has already been spied, revealing a second row with two captain’s chairs separated by a prominent center console with leather armrests, cup holders, multimedia screens, the Genesis Touch Controller dial and a handful of buttons and switches.

It is reported that the six-seat GV80 will also have a suite of wireless charging pads and that the second-row seats will include heated and ventilated functions while also being electrically adjustable.

Fewer details are known about the third-row but it will probably be very similar to the third-row on the current 7-seat variant of the GV80. If that’s the case, there will be two relatively compact rear seats and passengers will have access to leather-wrapped storage cubbies, cup holders, air vents, and their own speakers.

While the GV80 is the current flagship SUV model from Genesis, it probably won’t remain in that position for too long. In fact, there are reports that the car manufacturer is developing an even larger SUV dubbed the GV90 that might be positioned as a rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7. It is alleged that this model could be based on an electric platform and offered with a host of electrified engine options, including a possible all-electric powertrain.
