Hot on the heels of the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N being presented to the world, Asian Petrolhead had the exclusive opportunity to check it out in person.

The new Elantra N, also sold as the Avante N and i30 Sedan N in Korea and Australia respectively, follows in the footsteps of the i30 N, i20 N, and Kona N.

Powering the car is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 276 hp and 289 lb-ft (392 Nm) of torque with customers offered the choice of either an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual that powers the front wheels. With the dual-clutch and the N Grin Shift mode enabled, increasing power to 285 hp, the Elantra N can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.3 seconds.

Grunt is transmitted exclusively through the front wheels courtesy of an electronic limited-slip differential. Previous experience in N-branded models tells us that this LSD will also work wonders when cornering hard with the Elantra N.

During his overview of the car, the YouTuber showcases both the exterior and interior of the car and for those looking for a performance-focused sedan that won’t break the bank, the Elantra N is certainly shaping up to be a very solid option.

The exterior of the Elantra N is particularly striking and includes a distinctive front bumper with an aggressive splitter. The car also includes unique wheels, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a fixed rear wing.

Pricing details have not yet been announced for the U.S. market.
