Live out your Hollywood fantasy of getting angry on set and yelling “I’ll be in my trailer!” by buying one that has been on countless movie sets as Tom Hanks is selling his own home-away-from-home 1992 Airstream Model 34 Limited Excella Travel Trailer.
The 35’1″ trailer was purchased by Hanks in 1993 after he realized that it’s no fun spending all your time in a crappy trailer.
“I got it in the days when movies moved slower,” Hanks told Bonhams, the auction house handling the sale. “I had spent too much time in regular trailers with ugly décor and horribly uncomfortable furniture, so I decided to buy a brand-new Airstream shell with an interior made to my own request.”

He said that he deliberately asked for as many of the trailer furnishings to be kept out as possible so that he could fill it with his own comfortable and aesthetically pleasing furniture.
“I didn’t want anything built-in, other than the kitchen and bathroom, so it had only a desk and cupboard in the back, a futon platform on the floor, and room for a small table and chairs. I wanted a regular sofa, too, so I had one made with removable legs so it would get through the door.”
The trailer saw duty around America, serving as Hanks‘ base on movies like “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Forrest Gump,” and “Philadelphia.” The trailer also became a hangout for Hanks and his co-stars.
“Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, and I watched a Buster Keaton documentary on the TV – before running through the Forest Lawn cemetery in our Apollo 13 costumes to pay homage at his grave,” he said.
The trailer also comes with a Honda ES 6500 120/240-volt generator and is fitted with electric leveling jacks, a rollup patio awning, a pair of propane tanks, and a fireplace. If you buy this, you may not want to go back to your home-at-home.
Mind you, if you can afford this trailer, you probably have a very nice home already because Bonhams predicts that it will sell for between $150,000 and $250,000 as part of the Quail Lodge Auction on August 13.
