The owner of a modified Mazda RX-7 has filmed the moment their prized sports car was stolen right in front of their eyes.

Footage of the theft was uploaded to Twitter earlier in the week by the owner of the RX-7. Jalopnik reports that the incident happened at the Meitetsu Kyosho Parking location in the Aichi prefecture at 1:18 a.m. in the morning.

In the video, the owner can be heard screaming from a balcony as he watches two thieves open the silver RX-7 and start it up. One of the thieves then quickly drives away while his accomplice jumps into a Toyota C-HR and follows the Mazda out of the parking lot.

Posts made to Twitter indicate that the RX-7 owner regrets not doing more to stop the theft as they initially thought that shouting would scare the thieves away. It didn’t.

It is unclear if the thieves broke into the Mazda or if it was left unlocked in the parking lot. Jalopnik says that in the 18 hours after the theft, the car had yet to be located. The video did catch the license plate of the Toyota C-HR getaway car used by one of the thieves, though, so hopefully the police might be able to track them down.
