A Brand New Ford Bronco Outer Banks Edition Is Being Auctioned Off On Mecum

The new Ford Bronco is a quite popular model. High demand and delays in production have resulted in some auctioning off their SUV at a premium in order to make a quick buck. One such model is an Outer Banks Edition, which is going under the hammer at Mecum’s Orlando auction on Saturday, July 31.

The SUV is one of the first dealer-delivered 2021 Broncos out there, the auction house says, and it features the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with the 10-speed automatic transmission and the optional 4.27 rear axle with locking differential.

This particular model is finished in Oxford White with the black soft top and black painted grille, and it has a gray and navy interior. It comes with the G.O.A.T. mode terrain management system, as well as the Ford Dealer Accessory Pack 2A that includes options like the swing-gate table, mesh Bimini top and Tuffy cargo security drawer; the winch and mounting kit, light bar and JBL sound bar included in the pack haven’t been delivered yet and will be installed at a later date.

With just 35 miles (56 km) showing on the odometer, this Bronco is practically brand new. It even has the window sticker on it, which indicates that this vehicle has an MSRP of $48,720, although with the dealer-installed add-ons, the total goes up to $55,925.

It’s a testament to the hunger the market feels for the Bronco and the difficulty Ford has had with getting them built that Mecum can straight up just offer a mass market vehicle at its auction and call it a “Star” lot, something it normally reserves for pristine classics with some sort of backstory.

As we reported earlier this month, though, Ford paused production of the long-awaited Bronco between July 5 and July 26 to give suppliers a chance to catch up to demand. And that’s not simply because of the semiconductor chip shortage; Ford has been struggling to get hardtop roofs for its new Broncos because of the pandemic, which rages on around the world.

All of which has conspired to make Broncos quite valuable. Just a few days ago, we reported that a Bronco First Edition has been listed on eBay for $175,000 – which, frankly, seems too much. It will be interesting to see what this Outer Banks model ends up selling for.
