The innovative LMPH2G hydrogen-powered endurance race car from Michelin will make its UK debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The vehicle will be driven up the hillclimb on each day of the event and will also be featured in the Michelin Supercar Paddock.

Michelin created the LMPH2G alongside hydrogen fuel cell maker Symbio, a joint venture it operates with Faurecia. It exists as a preview of an electric-hydrogen category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that will debut in 2024. The racer features a four-stack hydrogen fuel cell powering four electric motors to pump out a combined 653 hp and has a claimed top speed exceeding 186 mph (300 km/h).

At Goodwood, Michelin will also unveil a race tire made up of 46 per cent sustainable raw materials including recycled carbon black from end of life tires, orange and lemon peel, sunflower oil, pine resin, and recycled steel from packaging. Michelin has committed to 40 per cent of all materials used in its tires being sustainable by 2030. By 2050, 100 per cent of Michelin’s tires will be made from sustainable materials.

“The partnership with GreenGT H24 highlights Michelin’s drive to innovation and it is the perfect vehicle to feature Michelin’s 46 per cent sustainable tires,” vice president of business development at Michelin Europe North, Peyman Sabet said. “Both pioneering developments honour the company’s commitment to sustainability, without compromising on performance. We are delighted to bring MissionH24 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and really excited that fans will be able to watch it take on the hill.”
