This is the Alfa Romeo Periscopica and while it won’t spawn a road car, it is one of the most beautiful independently made design studies we’ve come across.
The car has been designed by CarScoops reader Aditya Narayan and was created to celebrate the 111th birthday of Alfa Romeo. It pays homage to various Alfa Romeo race cars from the 1960s, in particular the 1967 Tipo 33 Periscopica.

The concept takes the shape of a low-slung racer and the front end immediately stands out thanks to circular headlights and a small front grille. The massive BBS wheels fit perfectly beneath the large wheel arches. When viewed from the side, you’ll notice that the Periscopica lacks a fixed roof and has large air intakes behind the doors. A roof scoop also catches the eye.
Narayan’s design is perhaps even more gorgeous from the rear thanks to a low decklid and engine cover, circular LED taillights, and dual tailpipes.
The interior of the Periscopica is just as intriguing as the exterior. Located directly in front of the driver is a flat-bottomed and flat-top three-spoke steering wheel and a simple circular instrument cluster. The car then features an array of five circular displays where you’d ordinarily see an infotainment screen. In addition, Narayan has designed his dream Alfa Romeo with a stick shift to add to the driver involvement.
Narayan currently serves as a design manager at Ford and played a role in the design of the 2016 Ford Mustang and the Mustang Mach-E.
Note: This is an independent design study from Aditya Narayan and it’s not related to or endorsed by Alfa Romeo.
