The next-generation Alpina B4 could be based on the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe rather than the 4-Series Coupe.
Alpina ended production of its previous-generation B4 a couple of years ago to make way for the new generation of 4-Series. That model has now hit the market and according to Bimmer Post, Alpina has started to work on its new B4, but elected to use the 4-Series Gran Coupe as its base.

If true, that would mean the new B4 would be quite similar to the current Alpina B3 which is based around the BMW 3-Series and the two would have quite a lot of overlap.
In all likelihood, Alpina will give the new B4 the same powertrain as the B3. That would mean a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six that has been tuned to pump out 462 hp and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque, giving the car a respectable boost without stepping on the toes of the M4. Bimmer Post adds that the new B4 will be based around the M440i xDrive which in standard guise produces 382 hp and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.
As with other Alpina models, the company can be expected to tweak the exterior of the 4-Series Gran Coupe to make it its own, including the fitment of unique front and rear bumpers. Alpina will also work its magic on things such as the suspension and braking systems to further boost the car’s performance without sacrificing ride quality and comfort. Various interior upgrades are also likely.
Bimmer Post suggests that the new Alpina B4 will launch in Europe in March 2022.
