If you want to own a McLaren F1, you’ll need to part ways with at least $20 million. However, the next best thing has just appeared for sale on eBay and takes the shape of a McLaren F1 replica that’s based around a Porsche Boxster.
The car is up for sale in Czech Republic but at the time of writing, had yet to attract any bids. Despite that, this is one of the most impressive McLaren F1 replicas that we’ve ever come across and could certainly fool a few people into thinking it is the real thing.

The bodywork of the car is very similar to a real F1 and presumably, has all been crafted from hand. There are F1-style headlights that add to the genuine look, although the simple LED daytime running lights do look a little cheap. Elsewhere, the replica is sitting on a set of matte black wheels and even has the same butterfly doors as the McLaren. Heck, it even has a roof scoop, the same kind of engine cover and a near-identical rear fascia with a fixed-wing and four tailpipes.
The individual who built the car clearly spent a lot of time on it as it even features a central driving position and many of the original Porsche Boxster’s interior parts have been retained, including the gauges. Unfortunately, the car features an automatic transmission rather than a stick-shift like the F1 but nevertheless, it’s not often you see an affordable replica with a central driving position.
