In recent months, BMW has been spied testing its forthcoming X8 SUV on a handful of occasions, including in flagship M-branded guises. By looking at recent spy shots and digitally stripping away some of the camouflage, Instagrammer Mangus.Concepts has created some very intriguing renderings of the SUV.

There is some conjecture as to whether the vehicle will be dubbed the BMW X8 M or simply be referred to as the XM but whatever the case may be, it is shaping up to look very different from all other BMW models.

These renderings imagine the SUV with a split headlight design that has been previewed by recent prototypes and will be a design also featured on the new 7-Series. As with other current BMW models, the X8 M will also feature large black kidney grilles and the rest of the front fascia includes large intakes and an aggressive bumper. Also catching the eye is a particularly dramatic hood with sharp creases and angles.

BMW’s SUV expansion continues with the X8 that’s supposedly a sportier looking version of the X7

Elsewhere, the super SUV has been rendered with flared front and rear wheel arches and has traditional BMW M wing mirrors.

The rear-end design of the X8 M is just as dramatic as the front. Featured are a pair of taillights unlike any other from BMW and complete with striking LED graphics. As with recent prototypes, the SUV has also been rendered with quad taillights that are stacked on top of each other, marking for a very interesting look.

Looking beyond the design of the X8 M, some reports speculate that it will be the car manufacturer’s most powerful production model and could feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 supplemented by an electric motor and producing as much as 750 hp.
