The 15th generation of the Toyota Crown premiered in 2018 and was updated in 2020. Now the Japanese automaker has announced two special editions exclusively available in its home market in a quest to make it more desirable to prospective buyers.
The first one is the RS “Limited II” which is based on the RS but brings darker tones for the exterior (in Precious Black Pearl or Precious Metal) and a set of exclusive 18-inch wheels finished in matte black shod in 225/45 R18 tires. The grille inserts and fog light surrounds are painted in jet black while the LED headlights and taillights are tinted.
Inside there is black leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, ventilated seats, and beautiful gun-metal details on the dashboard and center console.

The second special edition is the S “Elegance Style III” that’s based on the S trim level. It is distinguished by multispoke 18-inch wheels finished in chrome metallic and brighter tones for the exterior (in Precious White Pearl or Silver Metallic) and the interior where we find brown leather upholstery and wood-style inserts.
Both editions are fitted with the 2.5 Hybrid powertrain offering a combined output of 222 hp (226 PS) and 221 Nm (163 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to either the rear or all four wheels through a CVT gearbox.
Pricing starts from 5,230,000 yen ($47,000) for the RS “Limited II” and from 5,290,000 yen ($47,638) for the S “Elegance Style III” with rear-wheel drive, while the AWD versions cost 5,670,000 yen ($51,000) and 5,510,000 yen ($49,620) respectively.
Sales of the Crown haven’t been going strong lately, and things are not looking good for its future either. Last year it was reported Toyota might replace it with an SUV, although at this point this is mere speculation.
