Toyota South Africa announced today that the Land Cruiser 300 is set for an August debut in the country. It will be offered in five trims, with prices starting at R1,283,200 ($88,252 USD).
That’s the price for the entry-level Land Cruiser 300 GX-R 3.3D that comes, as the name would suggest, with the 3.3-liter diesel engine. The turbocharged V6 makes 304 hp (309 PS/227 kW) and generates 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.
This engine is also available on the ZX 3.3D and GR-S 3.3D trim, which start at R1,765,500 ($121,422 USD) and R1,811,900 ($124,613 USD), respectively. Both of those grades are also offered with the 3.5-liter petrol V6, but the base GX-R trim isn’t.

The turbocharged petrol engine makes 409 hp (415 PS/305 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. The ZX 3.5T starts at R1,797,100 ($123,595 USD), while the most expensive model is the Land Cruiser 300 GR-S 3.5T, which starts at R1,842,900 ($126,745 USD).
The old Land Cruiser 200 started at R1,175,800 ($80,780 USD), so that’s not an insubstantial bump for the new model, whose base price jumps the equivalent of nearly $7,500.
Regardless of which trim level buyers choose, their Land Cruiser 300 will come with LED headlights, integrated DRLs, keyless entry, park distance control, three-zone climate control, built-in navigation, and a crawl mode.
The ZX and GR-S grades add power-folding third-row seats, a heated steering wheel, wood accents, a JBL 14-speaker sound system with a 12.3-inch screen that plays DVDs for back seat passengers, the Multi-Terrain Monitor with Panoramic view, ventilated seats in the front and second rows, and more.
The most luxurious ZX trim also comes with WiFi-enabled rear-seat entertainment that the GR-S eschews in favor of better off-roading kit. Also known as the GR Sport trim, it will receive the latest version of Toyota’s E-KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), which offers drivers the ability to electronically unlock the stabilizer bars when greater wheel articulation is required off-road.
South African customers will be able to choose from 10 color options, including Glacier White, Pearl White Metallic, Satin Silver Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Raven Black, Attitude Black, Ruby Metallic, Avant-Garde Bronze, Moonlight Ocean, and Classic White.
