Well, at least there’s one way in which the Urus is the fastest Lamborghini ever: today, the Italian supercar manufacturer announced that it had built its 15,000th Urus SUV, making it the fastest-selling model the Italian brand has ever made.
Introduced three years ago, the Urus alone was responsible for nearly doubling Lamborghini’s sales in 2019, its first full year in showrooms. In 2020, meanwhile, the Urus was responsible for 59 percent of all Lamborghini sales. With more than 1,300 having sold already in 2021, its streak is continuing and it’s mostly responsible for making the first six months of this year Lamborghini’s best ever, sales-wise.

Based on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne, the Lamborghini Urus uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that delivers 641 hp (650 PS/478 kW) and 626 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. It’s good for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph (305 km/h).
The Urus is also the fastest vehicle on ice, having achieved 298 km/h (185 mph) on the frozen surface of Lake Baikal in Russia. Moreover, it’s the first celebrity-owned SUV I’m aware of to have accidentally cosplayed as the Mutts Cutts van from Dumb and Dumber.
Fortunately for the person in the U.K. who will be receiving the 15,000th Urus, it will not be shearling-covered. The SUV will, instead, be finished in a new shade of Grigio Keres Matt with Verde Scandal details over a Nero Ade/Verde Scandal two-tone interior.
