Vanderhall’s Brawley Electric Off-Roader Looks Like A Jeep From The Future

Vanderhall, a company best known for their three-wheeled speedsters, has dipped their toes into the off-roading market. Their contender, the Brawley, is an all-electric, all-wheel drive, all-terrain machine designed to go toe-to-toe with whatever life throws at it.

On the styling front, with its tall fenders, meaty tires, and virtually nonexistent overhangs, the Brawley’s exterior looks like the lovechild of a Jeep and a Moon rover in the best way possible. It sports 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires, internal bypass shocks, and has 22 inches of suspension travel.

Inside, the design is very much one of function over form, as aside from a slab-like horizontal dashboard, all you get in the four-seat cabin is a gauge cluster and a row of switches. There are some creature comforts, though, such as heat and air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Bluetooth-compatible sound system. The doors also have McLaren Senna-esque windows in them, presumably for better visibility of the terrain below.

Power is provided by four motors, one on each wheel, comprising of a motor, inverter, geartrain, brakes, and cooling system into a single unit. Altogether, in the range-topping GTS version, these motors are good for a combined 404 hp (410 PS / 301 kW) and 480 lb-ft (651 Nm) of torque. The Brawley also gets a proprietary ABS system, regenerative braking and four-wheel steering that, the company says, provides “unparalleled maneuverability options”.

Seeing as the Brawley is an electric vehicle, its battery technology matters just as much as anything else. As such, Vanderhall has developed their own NMC battery with a special conditioning system that extends cold weather range and increases its life cycle. The battery can be charged up to 80 percent capacity in less than an hour using a DC fast charger and provides the vehicle with over 200 miles (322 km) of range.

Reservations for the Vanderhall Brawley will open on July 15, although pricing has not yet been announced.
