Finding a parking spot in your Volkswagen is getting easier as the company has announced an expanded partnership with Parkopedia.
As part of the deal, Volkswagen of America customers will be able to make parking reservations using the Car-Net service and the associated smartphone app. The feature is currently live and is available on both new and older models that support Car-Net.
Besides being able to make reservations, drivers will also be able to pay through the service. Users simply register their payment details once and they can then digitally pay for parking at compatible locations.

While the features are available on older models, vehicles equipped with the latest MIB3 infotainment system have a few perks of their own. In particular, the navigation system can direct you to open parking spaces. This should help to eliminate the tedious task of driving slowly around a crowded parking structure in search of an open space.
The latest partnership expands on a previous deal, which saw Parkopedia deliver detailed parking information about available spaces to Car-Net users. Needless to say, the changes should be welcome as they’ll make the process of finding and paying for a parking space much easier.
In a statement, Parkopedia’s CEO Eugene Tsyrklevich said “We believe the future is [built] around user convenience and control, using contactless technology, real-time data and cloud-based solutions to both meet and exceed driver’s needs, and provide features such as parking reservations, combined with integrated frictionless payment solutions. We are thrilled to be aligned with Volkswagen of America in this vision as we continue to expand our range of services together.”
