This may look like a rally-inspired Peugeot 205 but beneath the bodywork, it is actually a Porsche Boxster.

This intriguing car is up for sale in Chapel-en-le-frith in the UK and is based around a 2000 Boxster with a 2.7-liter engine and a five-speed manual transmission. The eBay listing reveals that the car retains the standard Boxster running gear, suspension, brakes, steering, and wiring harness and that the shell of a Peugeot 205 has been placed over it.

It’s unclear why the owner opted for the body of the Peugeot but the result is certainly quite eye-catching, thanks in part to the bright yellow paint scheme and the widebody kit that has been fitted.

The Boxster underpinnings become especially apparent in the cabin where you will find the dashboard, steering wheel, and transmission tunnel from the Porsche. Admittedly, some changes had to be made to the dashboard so it would fit within the Peugeot body.

No mention is made about whether it is road-legal in the UK, but even if it isn’t, it would make for a nice track day car. The 2.7-liter flat-six of the first-generation Boxster produces 217 hp although this one may have slightly more grunt than that thanks to a larger throttle body from a 911 and a new induction pipe.
