Back in May, we covered the announcement that a never-owned 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur was going up for auction in Japan. Now, the auction has kicked off and there’s video footage of it running, so get those bidding fingers ready.
Despite leaving the factory about 20 years ago, having never been registered this Skyline is still technically new and the condition reflects that. Underbody shots of the car reveal an undercarriage pristine enough for even the most fastidious among us.
Being a V-Spec II Nur model, this is just one of 718 examples ever built, and one of just 159 painted in white. The Nur part means that it comes with the N1 racing version of the RB26DETT engine, which had a newly balanced crankshaft, better water and oil channels, upgraded pistons, new turbochargers, and upgraded camshafts for better performance.
The car shows just 10 km (6 miles) on the odometer and this was the final edition of one of Japan’s most legendary cars ever to go on sale. With the post-pandemic love for modern classics, the ridiculously good condition, this could go for quite a bit.
Indeed, the auction has started at 50,000,000 Yen (after taxes), which the equivalent of $450,777 USD. That’s before any bids have actually been made and already it’s nearly as much as a Millenium Jade Skyline GT-R V-Spec II sold for in 2020. Without the Nur and with an extra 219 miles on the odometer, it sold for $485,000. Just how high this car’s price will go will be interesting to see. Just how stressed its new owner will be every time the wheels complete a full rotation will also be interesting to see.
The car is part of an auction of low-mileage modern classics offered by Yahoo. The auction features a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Coupe, a 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster (997) (Carrara White), a 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster (997) (Pure Blue), a 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (993), and a Nissan Silvia S15.
