2022 Genesis GV60 Electric Crossover Is Here And We’re Intrigued

Say hello to the very first, dedicated electric vehicle from Genesis, dubbed the GV60 previewed for the first time with these official images.

The Genesis GV60 is based on the same E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) also used by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. It can be thought of as the more luxurious and premium alternative to those two and the design language fits in line with other current Genesis models. The ‘G’ in the name represents Genesis, the ‘V’ represents the EV’s versatility, and under the automaker’s current nomenclature, lower numbers emphasize athleticism, meaning the automaker is marketing this as its “most athletic model yet.”

The front of the GV60 is immediately identifiable thanks to its ‘Quad Lamps’ headlights and also has the brand’s Crest Grille, although it has been re-shaped and is smaller than on other Genesis models. A clam-shell style hood has also been designed.

Viewed from the side, it’s impossible not to notice that the GV60 has cameras in the place of traditional wing mirrors. It also features electric door handles that pop out as passengers approach the SUV. The example pictured also has some very striking wheels.

Located at the rear of the GV60 are Two Line LED taillights, a fixed rear spoiler, and a coupe-shaped roofline.

The interior of the Genesis GV60 also has some very unique touches, most notably the Crystal Sphere. When the vehicle is off, the Crystal Sphere forms part of the vehicle’s mood lighting and when you’re ready to drive, the sphere rotates and the shift-by-wire shifter appears. Other key highlights of the GV60’s cabin including a floating console, screens for the rear wing cameras, a large digital instrument cluster, and a prominent touchscreen infotainment system.

Genesis is not yet ready to announce technical specifications for the GV60 but is expected to do so in the coming months.
