The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring‘s release came with quite a bit of press, as aside from the manual transmission issue in California, the car promised GT3-level performance with looks for those who didn’t need to feel like they were on a racetrack. The following review from Edmunds tells us if the Porsche delivers on its promises.
A big part of the car isn’t the power itself, rather how it’s delivered. There are plenty of cars on sale today that have much more power than the GT3 Touring, yet none of them have the same character. The naturally aspirated flat-six puts out “only” 502 hp (509 PS / 374 kW) and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of torque, but it offers one of the most unique driving experiences on the road today thanks to things like its howling exhaust note, 9,000 rpm redline, overall power delivery, and of course, its proper manual transmission.

The Touring is very much a car that focuses on the experience rather than outright performance. Of course the regular GT3 will be quicker around a track, but this car is all about how it makes you feel while driving it, not necessarily fast lap times. And the hard truth of the matter is that for the majority of GT3 buyers, it won’t be used at the track all that often, if at all, so all that fancy racing-inspired aero, which is the largest difference between the regular GT3 and the Touring, isn’t really used for anything other than for show.
However, as much as we’ve said about the Touring being less track-focused than the regular GT3, that isn’t to say it wouldn’t still deliver on a circuit, as nearly everything else from the normal GT3 is carried over. The car’s new motorsport-derived double-wishbone suspension is said to provide a tremendous amount of grip and feedback, and when combined with the precise steering and manual transmission, you’re looking at a competent vehicle both on and and off track.
