Shortly after Mercedes-Benz confirmed that nearly all of its V8 models will be discontinued in the U.S. for the 2022 model year, Aston Martin has revealed that its supply of AMG V8s is unaffected by the move.

The current Aston Martin Vantage, DB11 V8 and DBX all use AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and with Mercedes citing supply issues as the reason behind its move to cull many V8 models, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if Aston Martin was also impacted. That won’t be the case.

“Aston Martin confirms that its supply of V8 engines from Aston Martin AG is not affected,” a spokesperson recently told Car and Driver.

While Mercedes cited supply issues as the reason why it is dropping so many V8 models in the U.S. for 2022, changes to global emissions regulations may have also played a role.

In a statement, the German automaker said its “prioritized focus to comply with various global, external and internal requirements, as well as several other factors, including but not limited to challenges in the supply chain, have an impact on the offering of the product portfolio in various markets.”

With this in mind, the carmaker has told dealers across the United States to stop selling V8 models and inform customers who have ordered one that their vehicles won’t be arriving as originally planned.
