Automakers are going electric and that even includes prestige brands such as Bentley and Bugatti.
Aston Martin is set to join them as their first electric vehicle is slated to arrive in 2026.
Speaking to MotorTrend, Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers said electric vehicles will need to wait until the brand is ready to launch their next-generation of sports cars. While the company will be a little late to the EV party, the executive noted their current models will be given a facelift and they’ll need a few years to pay for themselves.

Despite being the brand’s best-selling model, the DBX likely won’t be Aston Martin’s first electric vehicle. Instead, that honor is expected to go to the DB11 successor as the model will be nearly a decade old in 2026 and Moers stated, “We have traditionally been two doors so we will have a successor for the DB11 or something like that.”
Moers is excited about the upcoming EVs and expects at least half of their lineup will be electric by 2030. However, he said the company “can adjust to demand” and offer traditional models as “There are still buyers who want a mid-engine, ICE-driven sports car.”
Besides remaining committed to internal combustion engines for as long as possible, the company isn’t going to force customers to choose between ICE or EVs. Instead, Aston Martin will offer plug-in hybrids in markets where it “makes sense.” Moers didn’t elaborate, but he’s presumably talking about markets with limited recharging infrastructure.
