Audi’s Futuristic Grandsphere Concept To Launch On September 2, Previews New-Age A8

Audi has confirmed that its futuristic Grandsphere Concept will debut on September 2.

The launch of the Grandsphere will come just a couple of weeks after the equally-as innovative Skysphere was launched. However, whereas the Skysphere is a sleek two-door, two-seater with an adjustable wheelbase, the Grandsphere concept will be a four-door designed to preview the next-generation Audi A8.

Teaser images released by Audi of the car back in July reveal that it will be extraordinarily long and come complete with suicide-style rear doors. Like the Skysphere Concept, the interior will feature a steering wheel and pedals that can fold away into the dashboard whenever occupants decide they’d like the car to drive itself.

Despite the concept’s size, it appears as though it will only feature a small bench seat for rear passengers and have a pair of front seats that can be reclined and pushed back to well past the B-pillar. Teasers released were also notable because they didn’t show any screens, a feature that we have grown increasingly accustomed to seeing in new cars.

The exterior design of the Grandsphere Concept will be just as striking as the Skysphere and appears to adopt similarly thin and angular LED headlights. It will also feature massive wheels and a roofline reminiscent of a sleek shooting brake. Found at the rear will be thin LED taillights and, in all likelihood, a full-width light bar.

Audi has confirmed that the Grandsphere, like the Skysphere and upcoming Urbansphere, will be based on its Artemis electric vehicle platform.
