Bugatti brought along its two most potent hypercars to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering at the recent Monterey Car Week, turning heads with the Chiron Super Sport and Bolide.
Just prior to the event, Bugatti announced that the Bolide will no longer remain a one-off and will enter production. Just 40 examples of the insane, track-only hypercar will be built, with each starting at €4 million ($4.7 million), a price that will no doubt rise considerably once customers start requesting bespoke parts and finishes.

The Bugatti Bolide was unveiled in October last year and announced with a modified version of the Chiron’s 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine pumping out 1,824 hp. However, Bugatti says the production model will be capped at 1,578 hp as it will run on 98 RON gas as opposed to the 110-octane race fuel of the original prototype. Torque will sit at 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm).
The track-legal Bolide will also gain some weight. Whereas the prototype tipped the scales at just 1,240 kg (2,733 lbs), a remarkably low figure considering the behemoth of an engine that powers it, the production model will weigh 1,450 kg (3,196 lbs). Bugatti hasn’t announced performance specifications for the hypercar but they obviously won’t match the insane figures claimed for the prototype.
Seen in the flesh, it’s hard not to be stunned by the exterior design of the Bolide with it finished in a gorgeous combination of blue and black.
Joining the Bolide at the event was a bright green Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, recently unveiled as a slightly more luxury-focused variant of the record-setting Chiron Super Sport 300+. Other Bugattis displayed throughout Monterey Car Week included a Veyron Super Sport, EB110 Super Sport, and a Type 55 Super Sport.
