The Bugatti Bolide stunned the world with its extreme performance when it was first unveiled in October 2020. Initially, we thought it was a digital concept car but Bugatti showed a fully functional prototype and revealed track footage of another camouflaged prototype during testing. According to a new report from thesupercarblog, Bugatti is considering putting the Bolide in limited production as an ultra-exclusive track-only hypercar.
The production version of the Bolide could retain the concept car’s extreme shape, track-focused setup, and futuristic aero components, as it doesn’t need to comply with the regulations concerning street-legal vehicles or a specific racing series. It is rumored that the track-only machine will be produced in 40 units, with a price tag of €5 million ($5.86) – just like the street-legal but equally exclusive Divo.

The Bolide uses Bugatti’s quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine in its most powerful guise yet. With 110-octane racing fuel, it produces 1,824 hp (1,361 kW / 1,850 PS) and 1,850 Nm (1,364 lb-ft) of torque, which is significantly more than any Chiron-based road-going hypercar. The fact that the Bolide weighs only 1,240 kg (2,733 lbs) thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber and titanium alloy, makes it mind blowingly fast.
More specifically, Bugatti claims that the Bolide could lap the Nurburgring in 5:23.1, which is close to the ultimate all-time-best record of the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo racecar (5:19.546). Of course, Bugatti is basing their number in simulations as the Bolide hasn’t actually been tested on the Nurburgring yet.

If the rumors are true and Bugatti puts the Bolide into production, then it would probably be the fastest track-only hypercar ever offered for sale, beating similar unrestricted hypercars like the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, and the Mercedes-AMG One.
