Cadillac will compete at the top level of endurance racing with the LMDh-V.R prototype which will vie for overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in IMSA.
Competing against the likes of Porsche, the car will have its work cut out for it. Cadillac has experienced recent success in IMSA competition with its DPi-V.R that has earned 19 wins and 16 poles in its 41 races as well as two championship titles.
Like that car, the Cadillac LMDh-V.R will be made as a partnership between GM Design and Dallara and will be based around a standardized chassis that incorporates a spec hybrid powertrain system. It will, however, feature unique bodywork and its own combustion engine. The racing program will be run with the help of Chip Ganassi Racing and Action Express Racing.

“The IMSA LMDh category is looking to be very competitive with multiple manufacturers,” said Gary Nelson, AXR team manager. “We’ve had a lot of success running the Cadillac DPi-V.R as one of the original teams since 2017, and we are looking forward to being a part of the next chapter of Cadillac Racing.”
The DPi-V.R has won the last four Rolex 24 Daytona races in a row, which may explain why the brand is confident enough in its performance at the race to introduce the upcoming LMDh-V.R there. The January 2023 event will be the car’s first competition.
“For nearly 20 years, Cadillac V-Series has brought winning technologies from the racetrack to our performance cars on the road,” said Rory Harvey, Cadillac’s global vice president. “We look forward to continuing that heritage by competing in this exciting new chapter at the highest level of international motorsport.”
