The Czinger 21C hybrid hypercar has set a new lap record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:25:44. This lap time, achieved with driver Joel Miller behind the wheel, is more than two seconds faster than the previous record set by a McLaren Senna.
According to Czinger, the 1:25:44 lap time was “multi-GPS verified” and the car was running on street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R tires. Before setting its best time, the 21C had already achieved record-beating laps of 1:27:4 and 1:26:6. Conditions on the track were ideal with a 9 mph wind and an air temperature of 60 degrees.
Driver Joel Miller said that the 21C has a sports car soul when driving, adding that “You can feel what the car is doing in the steering wheel. What the powertrain is capable of doing is absolutely mind-blowing at maximum power”.

The Czinger 21C premiered at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show in prototype form, with the Los Angeles-based company revealing the production version in June 2021 with a series of improvements. The hypercar was created using additive manufacturing technologies and AI, and weighs under 1,240 kg.
The hybrid powertrain consists of a twin-turbo, 2.88-liter, flat-plane crank V8 running on e-fuels, a seven-speed sequential transmission, an 800V battery, plus two electric motors for the front wheels. The combined output is 1,233 hp (1,250 PS / 919 kW), with an extra 100 hp available as an optional upgrade. This means that the 21C has a weight-to-power ratio of 1:1 by metric standards.
According to the official data, the car has a top speed of up to 452 km/h (281 mph) in low drag configuration. Czinger is claiming some impressive acceleration figures, with a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 1.9 seconds, 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) in 8.1 seconds, and a standing quarter-mile time of 8.1 seconds. If confirmed, this will be a record-breaking performance, better than Rimac Nevera’s unofficial record of 8.6 seconds.

Ewan Baldry, Chief Engineer at Czinger was delighted with the performance of the 21C: “To be able to achieve this lap time with a car that is going into homologated production is the result of some incredibly hard work from the Czinger team”. In order for the 21C to get the title of the fastest production car around Laguna Seca, Czinger needs to proceed with the production and prove that the record-breaking car was stock.
In the official video, you can watch the team’s effort at the track. Towards the end of the video, Kevin Czinger, the Founder and CEO of Czinger Vehicles, says that “This is the first of many many many dominating performances we are going to have”, hinting at more record attempts in the near future. This was confirmed by Chief Engineer, Ewan Baldry, who said that the Laguna Seca lap record “represents just the first in a planned string of future performance record attempts”.
Czinger will showcase the record-setting 21C in Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week this August. The company is planning a limited production of 80 units of the 21C which will be available in two different configurations.
