The Ram 1500 TRX is one of the hottest trucks out right now, but while its supercar-rivaling power is appealing, the pickup’s sticker price can crest $100,000 even before any markups. That begs the question: for the money, would you buy that, or something like this classic Power Wagon restomod?
Listed for sale on Bring A Trailer, where it sold for $142,000, the 1949 Dodge Power Wagon received a four-door conversion courtesy of Idaho-based Legacy Classic Trucks. The conversion took place in 2014, after which the current seller acquired it in 2019, and while the truck shows 800 miles (1,287 km) on the clock, its true mileage is unknown since the odometer was reset during the restoration.

Finished in matte army green with black fenders, the Dodge‘s exterior does a good job combining its classic looks with its modern running gear. Said running gear includes Stockton wheels with Warn locking front hubs mounted on Super Swamper Radial/TSL tires, as well as four-wheel disc brakes, the calipers of which were repainted in 2019. Additional equipment includes a Braden MU-2 transmission-driven winch, retractable side steps, and a wood-lined bed.

Moving inside, the cabin features brown leather seats front and rear, black door panels and carpet, and white stitching on the rear bench. The truck’s three-spoke steering wheel frames a 10,000-rpm tachometer and a 200 mph (322 km/h) speedometer, although we don’t think its engine, while certainly powerful, would allow it to come even close to either of those numbers. Interior amenities include power steering, power windows, and air conditioning.
It’s worth noting that this Power Wagon’s changes aren’t only skin-deep, as the truck has received a host of powertrain modifications to make it more enjoyable to drive. The 360ci (6.2-liter) Magnum V8 under the hood features MSD Blaster ignition, an Aeromotive Phantom Stealth 340 fuel system, FAST EZ-EFI electronic fuel injection, an aluminum radiator, and a custom exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler It sends its power to the rear or all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and ARB front and rear locking differentials.
