The Woodward Dream Cruise doesn’t officially kickoff until this weekend, but the festivities are already underway as Ford Performance has unveiled a one-off Explorer ST.
Designed to promote the Ford Performance Racing School, the model features a white exterior with contrasting blue racing stripes. The Explorer has also been equipped with a front splitter, window nets and 21-inch Signature Wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Interior pictures haven’t been released, but the model features a custom safety cage and four Recaro Cross Sportster CS seats with four-point harnesses. It’s also safe to assume the cabin has been gutted, but nothing is official at this point.

On the performance front, there’s a twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. While it normally produces 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) of torque, this particular model has been outfitted with a performance tune by HP Tuners.
While the output remains a mystery, the Explorer has been equipped with an upgraded braking system that features six-piston Brembo front calipers which grab onto 16.5 inch (419 mm) ventilated discs sourced from a Shelby GT500. The system also runs Castrol SRF racing brake fluid, which is designed to withstand extreme temperatures from track use.
The model will celebrate its public debut on August 21st and Ford Performance Racing School President Dan McKeever said, “The Explorer ST is a phenomenal vehicle” and their goal with the modified version was to “take this already capable platform and turn up the volume a bit… further unleashing the beast into one capable of thrilling up to four people on the track.” He added the model will see plenty of track time following its debut at the Woodward Dream Cruise and stated it will “undergo more performance tuning as we learn its full potential.”
