GM CEO Mary Barra revealed today that the company will be revealing two new commercial vehicles that generate zero local emissions. These will be in addition to the previously announced BrightDrop EV600.

The first will be an electric cargo van produced by the Chevrolet brand, reports Automotive News. With that, and GM’s announcement that it will go all-electric by 2035, some have asked whether the newly announced electric van will replace the Chevrolet Express, which has gone largely unchanged since 2003.

Although there’s certainly interest in electric vehicles, GM has also said that it will use internal combustion vehicles to subsidize its electric endeavors. Whether or not this is a direct replacement for the Chevrolet Express remains to be seen.

The second vehicle Barra announced is a medium-duty truck using GM’s Ultium battery technology, as well as Hydrotec hydrogen fuel cell technologies. In 2016, GM announced it would make a hydrogen-powered version of the Chevrolet Colorado for the U.S. military.

What this medium-duty truck will share in common with that military vehicle is unclear at this juncture, but the company has experience in the field of hydrogen technology.

“We will have electric solutions for almost any hauling or towing job you can imagine,” said Barra. “Both will complement BrightDrop and keep our commercial fleet market share growing, and we’ll share more details about these products as we move forward.”
