The forthcoming C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 promises to be an incredible performance car, but the C7 model still remains very impressive – and if it’s been modified by Hennessey, even more so.
The Texas tuner has been offering upgrade packages for the C7 Corvette Z06 for a number of years now in both HPE850 and HPE1000 guise. Both are utterly insane and this video of a Z06 Convertible with the HPE850 package being tested around Hennessey’s facility is sure to help get you through those mid-week blues.

As standard, the C7 Z06 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 650 hp. For the HPE850 package, Hennessey upgrades the lower pulley, cylinder heads, valve springs, intake and exhaust valves, lifters and pushrods, and fits long-tube stainless steel headers, stainless steel midpipes, a high-flow air induction system, high-flow heat exchanger, custom camshaft, and high-flow catalytic converters. These changes result in 850 hp at 6,300 rpm and 715 lb-ft (969 Nm) of torque at 4,300 rpm.
Hennessey says that the upgraded engine can send the car to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.6 seconds and help it run down the quarter-mile in 10.3 seconds at 136 mph (219 km/h).
The Corvette HPE650 tested in this video is equipped with an automatic transmission, although if we owned a C7 Z06, it would definitely be the six-speed manual variant. Nevertheless, listening to ii and watching it sprint from roughly 30 mph to over 130 mph in just a matter of seconds is seriously impressive.
