Jaguar XE And XF Get The R-Dynamic Black Treatment

Jaguar announced the new R-Dynamic Black trim level for both the XE and XF sedans plus the XF Sportbrake, with more equipment and sporty design touches. The models are already available in the UK, following the equivalent R-Dynamic Black versions of the F-Pace, E-Pace, and I-Pace SUVs.

Both the XE and the XF R-Dynamic Black are fitted with the mild-hybrid 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels exclusively through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The XE accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.6 seconds while the larger XF needs 5.8 seconds. Fuel economy starts from 58.9mpg (4.8l/100km) in the XE and from 57.6mpg (4.9l/100km) in the XF.

Visually, the R-Dynamic Black trim can be distinguished by the black 19-inch wheels with red brake calipers and the black finish on the grille, badges, mirrors, side sills, and side gills. The darker tones are continuing inside the cabin, contrasting with the metal elements on the dashboard and center console.

Both models get Jaguar’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment which is capable of receiving over-the-air updates in the future and support Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity. There is also Jaguar’s cabin ionization technology and the Active Road Noise Cancellation system for a serene environment. Lastly, the XF benefits from the enhanced Premium Cabin Lighting offering a choice of 30 ambient colors (instead of 10).

Pricing in the UK starts from £33,470 ($45,962) for the XE D200 R-Dynamic Black and from £37,535 ($51,544) for the XF D200 RWD R-Dynamic Black. The most expensive and practical XF P300 AWD R-Dynamic HSE Sportbrake will set you back £39,395 ($54,223).

The R-Dynamic Black trim level is a way to attract more buyers in the not-so-popular sedans before Jaguar’s new and electrified era begins. According to the Reimagine plan, the new model range will consist of two electric crossovers and a sporty two-door coupe, which means the XE and XF sedans will be eventually dropped.
