Lamborghini will recall 224 examples of the Urus in the United States due to an issue with certain rear seat belt assemblies.
A recall notice issued by the Italian car manufacturer reveals that Urus models built between December 11, 2020 and June 25, 2021 may have been equipped with faulty seat belt assemblies manufactured by supplier Autoliv Group. These seat assemblies were manufactured between October 26, 2020 and January 27, 2021 and have an automatic locking retractor that may deactivate early.

Lamborghini says that in ordinary use, these seat belts work fine. However, if an owner decides to secure a child restraint system with the seat belt, rather than the included LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system, the assembly can’t be used to secure the child seat tightly, potentially increasing the risk of injury for a child in the event of a crash.
The recall adds that the automatic locking retractor function of the seat belt may deactivate early before the webbing is fully retracted.
Lamborghini isn’t aware of any incidents related to the issue. Impacted Urus models are being called back to dealerships where the affected seat belt assemblies will be inspected at certain seating positions and, if necessary, will be replaced free of charge. Lamborghini will notify dealerships of the recall on October 1, the same date that it will inform owners of affected models.
