Mahindra launched the XUV700, a compact SUV that is set to replace the aging XUV500 (2011-2021) while introducing the brand’s new logo and identity. The new model brings modern design and technology at an affordable price starting from ₹1,199,000 lakh ($16,168) in India. Competitors in the local market include the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.
The XUV700 is the first vehicle to wear Mahindra‘s new “Twin Peaks” logo that will be used in all passenger vehicles. At the front, the lighting signature has been evolved compared to its predecessor, with the C-shaped LED units merging with the new grille. There is also a cleaner design for the profile with flush door handles and a more sculpted rear end with an integrated roof spoiler.
The SUV is based on the W601 platform, measuring 4,695 x 1,890 x 1,755 mm (184.8 x 74.4 x 69 inches) with a 2,750 mm (108.3 inches) wheelbase. The interior is available in five- and seven-seat configurations with a modernized dashboard. This includes two 10,25 inch screens for the digital cockpit (8-inch and 7-inch for the base spec), a new infotainment system with Amazon Alexa compatibility, a multifunction steering wheel, and a drive mode selector.
Equipment includes many ADAS systems like adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and high-beam assist, while for audiophiles there is a 12-speaker 445W sound system by Sony.

The Mahindra XUV700 is available with both gasoline and diesel engines, and optional all-wheel-drive. The turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter petrol produces 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) and can be combined with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.2-liter turbodiesel can be had with 153 hp (114 kW / 155 PS) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque, or with 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).
The XUV700 is already available to order in India, while in the future it is expected to be exported in other global markets as well.
