Lexus is said to be planning a thorough refresh of its U.S. lineup in the coming years which will include the introduction of new hybrid powertrains.
In the second half of 2022, it is understood that the automaker’s top-selling crossover, the RX, will be redesigned to use Toyota’s global luxury platform. With these new underpinnings, the SUV will be outfitted with an improved hybrid powertrain as well as the car manufacturer’s latest safety and driver-assistance systems, Auto News reports. It is also tipped to receive an upgraded infotainment system.

The RX isn’t the only SUV that Lexus is preparing to update. The larger GX is expected to grow in size and become more luxurious in 2024. It will allegedly use the Lexus GA-F body-on-frame platform and will also feature a hybrid powertrain to improve power and fuel efficiency. Like the RX, it will be equipped with advanced safety and driver-assist technologies. We also know that a new LX is just around the corner, based on the new Land Cruiser. The redesigned NX will also launch this year.
Looking elsewhere across the Lexus range, the IS could be updated in 2024 while the ES will receive some minor updates prior to being overhauled in 2025 for its eighth generation. The updated LS is also launching soon with a Level 2 autonomous driving-assistance feature dubbed Lexus Teammate which uses lidar technology developed in partnership with Denso Corp that will allow it to automatically change lanes, follow lanes, and pass vehicles in some highway driving.
Auto News also reports that the RC will be updated for a new-generation in 2024 while the UX and LC will both receive mid-cycle updates in 2023 and 2025 respectively.
