Porsche posted a teaser on Instagram previewing a fully electric concept car that will debut on the 6th of September in IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich. According to the announcement, Porsche is looking to the future “with cutting edge technology combined with breathtaking design”, inspired by their motorsport heritage for over 70 years now.
The single teaser image doesn’t give up much of the vehicle, showing just a close-up of the headlight. The unit looks similar to the Taycan with four LEDs coming out of what looks like an intake on the front fenders. However, this one also has an extension with a yellow area towards the nose. Some Porsche fans noticed a slight resemblance to the “fried egg” headlights found on 911 and Boxster models of the ’90s. Finally, there is a hint of a bonnet scoop, and of course the red exterior color.

There’s a chance the “future-oriented concept study”, as Porsche calls it, could be a preview of the fully electric 718 Boxster and Cayman successor. However, the motorsport referral could also hint at an experimental racecar with a fully electric powertrain.
The electrification of Porsche’s range that started with the plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne and Panamera followed by the fully electric Taycan is expected to continue with the reveal of the PPE-based Macan. We will learn more about the new concept car as we approach the official debut in September.
