The all-new Kia Sportage sports a radical new look both inside and out but is it actually any good in the real world?
YouTuber Asian Petrolhead recently got his hands on a 2022 Sportage and while he wasn’t able to drive it, he does provide us with a comprehensive walkthrough of the eye-catching SUV and seems very impressed with what he finds.
Much of the overview focuses on the interior of the Sportage where the example featured had a nice cabin with a combination of brown and black-colored leather. Among the key features found within include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 12-inch infotainment screen but a smaller 8-inch display is also available, as is a tiny LED display flanked by physical buttons.

In terms of powertrains, 2022 Sportage models sold in South Korea can be ordered with either a 1.6-liter TGDI four-cylinder with 177 hp and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque or a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel producing 183 hp and 307 lb-ft (417 Nm) of torque. There is also a hybrid model that pairs the aforementioned 1.6-liter engine with an electric motor that adds 59 hp. The standard gas and diesel engines are offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations while the hybrid sends its power exclusively through the front wheels.
There’s no doubt that the exterior design has rubbed a few people the wrong way but there’s little denying the fact that the new Sportage is more premium than its predecessor.
