With every generation of Porsche 911, the GT3 manages to get better and better. And as Throttle House finds out in their new video, that absolutely applies to the latest one as well.

They took the car to their test track where they assessed it. The first thing they noticed was the engine’s character. They had previously driven the 911 Turbo S, and they actually felt the one thing missing was the naturally aspirated charm of the GT3’s 9,000 rpm, 4.0-liter flat-six. This engine makes 502 hp (509 PS / 374 kW) and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of torque, which is less than the Turbo S for about the same price, but they feel that what the car lacks in outright acceleration it makes up for in track competency.

The GT3 was even grippier than they expected, and thanks to its rear-engine layout, it almost launches like an AWD car. The steering is aggressive without being overly heavy, slicing through corners effortlessly. The car features double wishbone suspension up front for the first time in its history, delivering excellent damping and unparalleled feedback to the driver. Stepping the back end out is no easy feat, but when done right, it is very rewarding.

After general driving impressions were all said and done, they took the GT3 out onto the track to set a time. The session included 1 warm up lap, 3 hot laps, and 1 cool down lap, and in the end, the new GT3 ran a 1:07.77, 0.22 seconds slower than the Dodge Viper ACR and 0.25 seconds slower than the BAC Mono.

All in all, the 992-gen GT3 proved to be a car that invites you to explore its limits, and if it’s truly this good, we can’t wait to see what Porsche has in store with the GT3 RS.
