Update: The video has been removed from YouTube
Put its controversial looks aside, the 2021 BMW M4 Competition is a serious driver’s machine and is a joy to drive on the limit. However, powersliding the sports car on public roads isn’t a particularly smart idea, even though it may look cool.
This video from the Supercars of Austria channel on YouTube shows the driver of an M4 Competition testing out its performance on some stunning roads and provides us a hint of what it is capable of. At one stage, the driver kicks out the M4’s tail around a left-hand corner, threading together a lovely powerslide. In the process, however, the driver did cross over into the opposite lane and had things gone wrong, could have easily hit a BMW 2-Series traveling towards it.

Obviously, driving like this should be limited to racetracks where the potential consequences of something going wrong aren’t as bad. Nevertheless, there’s no way to stop people from driving performance cars like this, and that includes top speed limiters. At least the M4’s owner in this video appears to be quite a skilled driver.
As you probably already know, the BMW M4 Competition is powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six as the standard model, although it has been upgraded to deliver 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm). That allows it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). The car is sold exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
