If you’re a frequent reader of CarScoops, you’ve probably seen a host of stories featuring craftsmen carving awesome scale models of cars out of wood with the most basic of hand and power tools. This latest video comes from YouTuber ND – Woodworking Art and is one of the most impressive we’ve come across.
For his latest project, the craftsman gave himself 70 days to create a Ferrari 250 GTO replica from wood that his young son would be able to drive around in. The project is split into two parts, with the first focusing on the chassis that was used to underpin the vehicle and the second showing how the body was carved from wood.

The chassis is predominately made from steel and features a small electric motor, as well as functional suspension and a steering rack. The YouTuber then proceeded to fit large sections of wooden bodywork over the chassis, including the sides and the rear end. He then glued a host of other wooden parts to the car, including its front fascia and bonnet. Once the glue had dried, he took out a chainsaw and got to work actually making the car look like a real 250 GTO.
As you can imagine, replicating the curvaceous lines of the 250 GTO out of wood takes a lot of time but as the video progresses, the shape of the 250 GTO begins to appear. He even goes to the trouble of using a chisel and a hammer to form some of the Ferrari’s most iconic elements, including its air vents on the front quarter panels. What’s more, he even fitted functional turn signals and headlights and made his own seats, steering wheel, and dashboard from wood.
