The car wash is a happy place for most people, as you only need to wait for a few minutes before you drive away in a sparkling clean automobile. Most of us know that we should keep the mirrors closed and patiently wait for the brushes to do their thing before exiting safely. But what happens if you accidentally press the wrong button – and, more specifically, the one that opens the trunk?
This is probably the case with the person who owns this first-generation Range Rover Evoque. While the car was inside the car wash and the brushes had started turning, someone accidentally pressed the button that automatically opens the rear hatch.

The first thing you notice is water running inside the boot but this is the least of the owner’s problems. The rotating brush went under the open door and started going up together with the hatch. While we expected it to stop after reaching its highest position, the brush kept going breaking the gas struts and the roof-mounted hinges.
Finally, instead of just getting their car back cleaned, the owner of the Evoque got it with the rear hatch ripped off. We are sure that the damage must be pretty expensive. The weird thing is that no one noticed what had happened in order to press the emergency stop and save the car.

The video was uploaded on TikTok by user gendosthor and while we don’t know where it occurred, we can see that the Evoque has European license plates.
