Toyota Gazoo Racing has revealed that it will reproduce select parts for the 40 Series Land Cruiser that was built between 1960 and 1984.

The Japanese automaker says that it will reproduce and sell parts for the 40 Series Land Cruiser thanks to a special collaboration with suppliers. It says that a shortage of spare parts in recent years and a fear among owners that they will no longer be able to drive their vehicles has prompted Toyota Gazoo Racing to reproduce select parts with the greatest demand and need.

Toyota carried out preliminary surveys with exclusive Land Cruiser dealers and fan club representatives around the world to determine which parts were needed and has confirmed it will first reproduce parts related to the critical functions of driving, turning, and braking.

A full list of parts has not been released but Toyota says they will include engines, drivelines, and exhaust systems. It plans to launch these parts at the beginning of early 2022. In addition, Toyota Gazoo Racing has created an online questionnaire where owners can submit their reproduction part requests which could be made in the future.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is already reproducing parts for the 2000GT as well as the A70 and A80 Supra. It is also considering reproducing parts for later generations of the Land Cruiser.

The 40 Series Land Cruiser was built between 1960 and 1984 in most markets but survived in Brazil until 2001. It is a body-on-frame off-roader that over the years was offered with a host of different petrol and diesel engines.
