Aston Martin Says Its Mercedes-AMG V8s Aren’t Going Anywhere

Mercedes has recently confirmed that the vast majority of their V8 models would be withdrawn from the U.S. thanks to supply issues. Those in the know realized that Mercedes’ own V8s aren’t just supplied to their own cars — they’re found in a number of Aston Martins too, including the DB11 V8 and DBX. Thankfully for anyone with one on order, Aston has confirmed that their supply of engines will be unaffected.

CarScoop’s Micheal Gauthier got to test out the 2021 Mazda CX-30. It’s a crossover that seems to have balanced its appeal to those looking for something affordable, with those wanting something stylish and — in the case of the CX-30 2.5 Turbo — something that goes well too. Despite being Mazda’s entry-level crossover, the interior is great too, with plenty of metal and soft-touch plastic. And with 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 320 lb-ft (434 Nm) it’s not slow either.

Tesla Could Allow Other Automakers To Utilize Its Self-Driving Technology

On Tesla’s AI day, Elon Musk said he was open to the idea of licensing the company’s Full Self-Driving tech. Answering a question about whether or not FSD could become open source, he said, “Well, it is fundamentally extremely expensive to create the system, so somehow that has to be paid for. Unless people want to work for free. But I should say that, if other car companies want to license it and use it in their cars, that’d be cool. This is not intended to just be limited to Tesla cars.”

BMW 5-Series Driver Tries To Lane Split On LA Freeway, Things Don’t Go To Plan

Lane splitting is a controversial way of getting around faster on two wheels. It works with cars waiting at traffic lights in crowded cities. It’s rarely advised on busy freeways — less so with a much wider vehicle, like say, a BMW 5-Series. In the above video, the BMW appears to try to squeeze between a Prius and the Corolla Sedan. Unsurprisingly, there wasn’t enough room and the BMW ends up slamming into the rear quarter of the Corolla, causing a horrendous chain reaction.

It marks the fourth successive win for the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, but it was the first time that the #7 team, comprising of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Jose Maria Lopez, won after several near misses. There was last lap drama as the Belgian WRT team look set to achieve a 1-2 victory, but the lead car failed on the last lap. Oh, and the flag-waver almost got flattened on the last lap too.
