Maserati has confirmed that all examples of the MC20 heading to the U.S. for the 2022 model year have been sold.
During Monterey Car Week, The Drive had the opportunity to speak with Maserati North America chief executive William Peffer, who confirmed that “the cars we have allocated for 2022 have all been reserved.” He did not specify exactly how many examples had been accounted for.
“All MC20s that were allocated for our region (both North and South America) are reserved for model year 2022,” a spokesman added. “Customers interested in model year 2023 can contact their local dealer with an expression of interest.”

According to Peffer, Maserati is aiming to build the MC20 at the same rate as demand, “or maybe even a little bit behind.” U.S. deliveries are expected to start before the end of the year.
Found at the heart of the MC20 is a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with a dual injection system and an F1-inspired pre-chamber system with twin-spark plugs. The innovative powertrain is good for 621 hp and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque and given the industry’s ongoing shift towards electrification, could prove to be the last great, all-new new engine from the Italian marque.
Coupled to the twin-turbo V6 is an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that powers the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. It can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 2.9 seconds and reach a 202 mph (325 km/h) top speed. Maserati is also working on an all-electric version of the MC20 that will be even quicker to 62 mph and good for 201 miles (323 km) of range on a single charge.
