Common sense is in incredibly short supply these days, but a few things go without saying.
While the basics should be widely known, we’ll add something to that list – never attempt to steal a car from a professional fighter.
As you can see in this security video, UFC welterweight Jordan Williams stopped at a gas station or convenience store in Denver and ran inside to grab something to drink. Since this was only going to take a few minutes, Williams left his car running while taking the key fob with him.

As Williams was in the store, a would-be thief saw the running vehicle and thought he’d make a quick getaway. Shortly after the man gets inside the car, Williams exits and runs over to the vehicle.
He then opens the door and struggles with the thief. Williams is eventually able to pull the man out of the car after landing a number of blows.
Speaking to ESPN, Williams said “I opened the door and … then I proceeded to punch the guy. After the first punch he said, ‘OK, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.'” He added, “I was able to get some knees on him, as he was exiting out.”
In an Instragram post, Williams said he didn’t realize thieves could drive a short distance without the key fob so it was lucky that he exited the store when he did. However, he wasn’t the only one that made a mistake as the thief didn’t know how to release the parking brake.
The moral of the story is to lock your doors and shut off your engine as a vehicle is stolen every 40 seconds in the United States. It also goes without saying, if you’re a thief, UFC fighters probably aren’t the best target.
