The Mazda RX-7 is a performance car icon but this particular example from the Netherlands is having a bit of an identity crisis.
Two images of the car were recently shared online to Reddit and show the Japanese sports car has undergone some questionable modifications, the most notable of which have been made to the front end.
For whatever reason, the car’s owner has removed the RX-7’s standard fascia and replaced it with the front end from an RX-8. This includes the latter’s headlights, as well as its grille, bumper, and front air intakes. If we were to conduct a survey to see whether people prefer the styling of the RX-7 or the RX-8, we suspect the overwhelming majority would vote in favor of the RX-7 – but to each, their own.

It’s hard to imagine why the owner has overhauled the front end the way they have. One possible explanation is that the car’s original fascia was damaged and the owner either was unable to source any replacement parts or decided to slap on the front from an RX-8. Admittedly, that’s just a theory. The more likely explanation is simply that the owner prefers how the front of the RX-8 looks.
Some other odd changes have been made to the car. For example, it features a silver and paint scheme and also has a Fast & Furious-style bodykit with extended side skirts, a towering rear wing, and a distinctive diffuser, while the taillights have also been tinted.
