The facelifted 2022 BMW X3 M and X4 M have celebrated their public debut at the Munich Motor Show.
Both SUVs feature the car manufacturer’s S58 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six that features a 3D-printed cylinder head core and a forged lightweight crankshaft, shared with the M3 and M4. Regular models pump out 473 hp and 457 lb-ft (619 Nm) of torque while the X3 M and X4 M Competition variants have 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm).

The duo come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from ZF that transfers power to the pavement through a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. Competition-branded variants can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds while non-Competition models need 3.9 seconds. Most drivers won’t be able to feel that difference, of course.
Immediately making the new models stand out from the pre-facelift variants is the revised front fascia. Like the new M3 and M4, the 2022 X3 M and X4 M have been equipped with slimmer and more angular LED headlights. The front bumper and blacked-out air intakes have also been redesigned. The taillights have also been redesigned.

BMW has also made some minor interior alterations to the updated models. For example, they come with new seats, an updated center console with redesigned air-vents, and an optional ‘Driving Assistance Professional’ system that informs drivers of their surroundings through the digital instrument panel and head-up display.
U.S. deliveries of the new models will begin later this month. Prices for entry-level models start at $69,900 for the X3 M and $73,400 for the X4 M.
