The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback has gone on sale in the United States, following its debut earlier this year.
Priced from $22,900, the model aims to appeal to young buyers who want “world-class driving dynamics” and improved versatility.
Kicking things off is the entry-level Civic Hatchback LX, which features LED lighting units and 16-inch alloy wheels. The model also comes equipped with an automatic climate control system, a push button ignition, and a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other highlights are pretty basic, but include a four-speaker audio system, power windows / locks and a split-folding rear seat.

Motivation is provided by a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 138 lb-ft (187 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a continuously variable transmission, which sends power to the front wheels.
Moving up the trim ladder is the $24,100 Sport variant, which is distinguished by black accents and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sport pedals and an eight-speaker audio system.
The model is available with either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. When equipped with the latter, the Civic Hatchback Sport comes with a drive mode selector, remote engine start and shift paddles.
Buyers looking for more power can upgrade to the $26,600 Civic Hatchback EX-L. It’s CVT-only, but features a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 180 hp (134 kW / 182 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.
Besides the turbocharged engine, the model has heated body-color side mirrors, a moonroof and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other highlights include a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a blind spot information system, illuminated vanity mirrors, and heated leather front seats with eight-way power adjustment on the driver’s side.
Sitting at the top of the range is the $29,400 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring, which features a turbocharged engine as well as a choice of manual and CVT gearboxes. It’s distinguished by LED fog lights, a dual exhaust system and 18-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find rain-sensing wipers and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Moving into the cabin, there’s a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 9-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Drivers will also find an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a wireless smartphone charger and HomeLink. They’re joined by a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and a four-way power passenger seat. Lastly, the model comes equipped with front / rear parking sensors and an upgraded Blind Spot Information System with a Cross Traffic Monitor.
